The championship started in 1997 as a support for the Touring Car
Championship and has grown steadily over the years to become one of
the largest single make championships in the U.K.
The current regulations cover 3 classes;
Class A – which is for the Fiesta Si (1800cc) 130 bhp with limited
modifications.
Class B – for the Fiesta Zetec (1400cc) with little modification
permitted.
Class C – for the newer Fiesta S.T 150, (2 litre) 150bhp, again
with very little modification permitted so it is basically in showroom
specification although some trim removal is allowed, and of course
all cars must be fitted with the mandatory safety equipment –
roll cage, fire extinguisher system, etc.
Classes A and B have a minimum weight requirement of 995 kilograms
including the driver at the end of a race, whilst the minimum for
Class C cars is 1110 kilograms.
All cars must run on the control tyres produced by Dunlop.
Cars are scrutinised before and after racing to ensure adherence to
the regulations.
It is intended that by limiting the amount of modifications allowed
to the cars the results will better reflect driver a)bility as opposed
to budget.
In 2009 Team Hood Racing will be competing in Class C of the Championship
in our eye catching orange machine supported by our main sponsor –
The John Harrison Group, Ford dealers of Lowdham and Newark.
