The Championship operates under the auspices of the British Racing
and Sports Car Club and since its launch in 1990 has progressed to
be the largest single make race series in the UK. The championship
is split into 6 classes with A1 at the top dominated by 4 wheel drive
Escort Cosworths producing in the region of 500 bhp and capable of
0 - 60 in under 3 seconds! At the lowest end is Class E which is for
standard saloons up to 1600cc with no modifications apart from removal
of trim and installation of safety equipment. These cars produce around
90 bhp and lap approximately 5 seconds slower than the "big boys"
in Calss A.
In 2008 Hood Racing will be contesting Class C. This is for cars up
to 1650cc with virtually no limit to engine modification which means
power ranges of 130 -180 bhp. These cars, however, must meet a minimum
weight restriction of 835 kgs(including driver).
